Authorities in Clayton County have arrested a convicted child molester they say posted pornographic images of children as young as 5 years old online.
Vincent Raymond Hughes, 30, of Forest Park, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children in connection with the incident, according to the GBI.
The agency began looking into Hughes after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said it appeared he was uploading child pornography to a social media application, GBI spokeswoman Lindsay Marchant said.
Authorities cornered Hughes in a home on Thurman Road in the Conley area, the Clayton sheriff’s office said in a statement. He was captured after he tried to jump out of a second-story window, the sheriff’s office said.
According to Georgia Department of Corrections records, he was convicted of child molestation in Douglas County and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was released in July 2009 after serving a little more than two years of that sentence, records show.
The GBI and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Hughes on an active warrant out of Douglas County, where he was wanted for probation violation.
He was taken to the Clayton County Jail. In addition to the probation violation charge, he faces a count of failure to register as a sex offender in Clayton County. Bond has not been set.
