A Cobb County police detective was seriously hurt after a crash with an 18-wheeler Tuesday morning.

The crash happened after the driver of the truck failed to yield along Fulton Industrial Boulevard in south Fulton County, Fulton police said.

The truck driver, who was not injured, was charged with failure to yield.

The detective’s lung was punctured and bones broken. His county car was burned.

Police have not released the detective’s name.
