Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old Clayton County man whose body was discovered Tuesday morning in front of a Griffin home.

Griffin police are searching for a 16-year-old after a Clayton County man was found shot to death overnight in the front yard of a home.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Melrose Avenue about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after getting calls about a person shot, Griffin police said in a Facebook post. They arrived to find 46-year-old Robert Brown dead in the front yard.

On Tuesday afternoon, police identified 16-year-old Malik Yarbrough as a suspect in the fatal shooting.

“Investigators conducted numerous interviews and executed several search warrants,” Griffin police spokesman Lt. Daniel Jett said. “Based on the information obtained, it was determined that Brown and multiple people on scene had a dispute.”

Yarbrough was identified as the shooter, according to police. Warrants have been issued charging the teen with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Investigators plan to charge him as an adult in the case, Jett said.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected, according to police

Anyone who knows Yarbrough’s whereabouts is asked to call investigators at 770-229-9911.
