A child was taken to the hospital Thursday after being pinned underneath an overturned golf cart, Cobb County police said.

Brooks A. Hall, 41, lost control of the black Yamaha golf cart when he braked to avoid a vehicle stopped on Indian Hills Parkway, Cobb police Officer Sarah O’Hara said in a statement. Hall, a woman and two juvenile passengers, including the injured child, were in the cart at the time.

The cart overturned and pinned the child. Hall and a bystander freed the child and performed first aid until paramedics arrived, O’Hara said.

The child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with injuries, but they are not expected to be life-threatening.

No other injuries were sustained.
