Child hit while playing in Northwest Atlanta

A child is recovering from a broken leg Monday after she was hit by car outside her northwest Atlanta apartments, police said.

Police say a red Nissan pathfinder struck the girl on 2500 Center Street while she was playing outside.

Fire officials and a Grady unit took the child was taken to Hughes Spalding Hospital.

The driver, whose name and charges were not release, left the scene before police arrived.

The car’s owner told police she let the woman driver her car and said she didn’t have a license. The owner convinced the driver to return to the scene.

The owner of the car was charged with allowing the driver to operate a car without a license.

No other details were released.
