For the second time since his 2013 conviction, a sex offender in Cherokee County absconded, authorities said.

Jamun Rhykeen Slocum, born in 1995, is on the run after failing to re-register and verify his address, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said. He was convicted of sexual battery against a child in 2013.

He didn’t receive any time in prison for that conviction but instead received five years on probation, Georgia Department of Corrections records show.

In 2015, he absconded for the first time, leading to him being found guilty of failing to register as a sex offender and netting him 10 months in prison, GDC records show. That stint behind bars at Dodge State Prison ended in May 2018, but he was ordered to remain on probation until 2025.

Slocum, who is 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds, last re-registered in October 2019, according to sex offender registry records. Sheriff’s office spokesman Jay Baker told AJC.com that deputies were not able to find him at his last known address, leading to the new felony charges.
