A 19-year-old Middle Georgia man can thank jurisdiction limitations for giving him a second chance.

Charges against Derrick Hudson for allegedly telling people to "kill all cops" in a Facebook post last month were dropped, The Macon Telegraph reported.

Houston County District Attorney George Hartwig said the county doesn’t have the authority to try him. Hudson was charged with soliciting people to commit murder.

“Mr. Hudson is not going to be facing any charges here in Houston County,” Hartwig told the newspaper. “In reviewing some of the code sections … I just don’t believe that what he did fits the elements of those crimes.”

Hudson’s comments came in the wake of the shooting death of Alton Sterling by police in Louisiana on July 5.

Hudson was jailed July 13, the newspaper reported. He was released July 26.

Hartwig said the post wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular, so there wasn’t any “imminent danger to any person.”
