Two people have been charged in connection with the May shooting death of a Henry County man.
Frank Albert Lawler, 44, and Evelyn Yvonne York, 58, both of Stockbridge, were arrested on murder charges this week in the death of Jonathan Scruggs, Henry County police spokesman Capt. Joey Smith told AJC.com early Friday.
Lawler is no stranger to police. He was arrested on an unrelated charge of influencing a witness on May 23, the day after a couple found Scruggs’ body near a wooded area along Highland Drive and Ga. 42.
He also has a pending drug possession case in Henry County, as well as a long rap sheet for convictions in Henry, Clayton and Douglas counties, to name a few. In 2005, Lawler pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Henry County and served five years of a 15-year sentence in prison, records show.
He was most recently released from prison in May of last year, according to the state Department of Corrections.
In Scruggs’ death, both Lawler and York face charges of murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.

Scruggs, 34, also of Stockbridge, had been reported missing May 21, Smith said.
An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound.
