A homeowner said it sounded like a bomb exploded when a car slammed into her South Fulton home Monday night.

According to Channel 2 Action News, the Hyundai sedan came around a sharp curve on Scofield Drive and flew into her kitchen before landing on its roof in the basement-level driveway below about 10:30 p.m. It took out a speed limit sign in its path.

“It’s 25 mph, and they cannot break that curve,” homeowner Sarah Young told Channel 2. “But police also told me that they had backed off of him and he kept going.”

College Park officers were pursuing the Hyundai after attempting to stop it for a seat belt violation on Old National Highway, according to Channel 2. When they tried to pull the car over, police told the news station the driver turned off the headlights and sped away.

After the crash, the driver took off running and was still at large Tuesday.

Young is left with a large hole in the side of her house and a kitchen in shambles. No one in the home was injured.

“Going to tell you the truth, sounded like a plane had crashed,” she said. "It scared me so bad ... I thought it was a bomb."

South Fulton police told the news station they will be handling the crash investigation.
