Bomb threats sent to two employment agencies prompted evacuations and road closures in Cartersville Tuesday morning, police said.
Officials at Jibe Staffing and Staff Source said they received the threats via their printers, Cartersville police told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The letters, which appeared “to be Nigerian in nature,” indicated “that there was a bomb placed inside the business and they needed (to) wire a certain amount of money to a certain account by May 31, 2017,” police said.
Fulton County bomb-sniffing dogs were called for assistance and buildings in the 1100 block of North Tennessee Street were cleared.
The "investigation revealed that these two business have several other locations which also received this suspicious letter,” police said. It was not clear if those locations were evacuated, too.
The area around Tennessee Street and Pointe North Drive was blocked until just after 11:10 a.m. when authorities determined the threats were not credible.
