A driver was surprised when he pulled over and discovered a bullet in the side of his car.

According to Channel 2 Action News, the man was driving along I-285 West near Chamblee Dunwoody Road about 1 a.m. Sunday when he heard a loud pop. He thought his tire popped, Dunwoody police told the news station.

When he pulled over, however, “he noticed a bullet hole in his car,” Dunwoody police spokesman Sgt. Robert Parsons said.

The driver told investigators he saw another car next to him before the gunfire, but nothing happened that would have prompted the shooting.

Channel 2 reached out to the victim, but he did not want to go on camera. In a text, he told the news station “someone who would do something like this could likely strike again” and needs to be stopped.

Police don’t have many leads. Anyone with information is asked to call them.
