Four people, including a 10-year-old girl, were injured when gunfire erupted at a DeKalb County extended stay motel Wednesday night.
DeKalb police have charged 29-year-old Arthur Brown with aggravated assault in the shooting, department spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said in a news release Thursday afternoon.
The shooting took place at the Haven Hotel on Memorial Drive just outside the Perimeter, Vincent said.
Investigators said Brown and another man were involved in a gun battle at the motel, according to Vincent. Multiple people, including the 10-year-old, were hit by stray rounds, she said.
The girl was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to her leg, Vincent said. She was treated at a hospital and released.
Brown later showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was in serious condition.
Police identified him as the primary aggressor in the incident and said he was seen pulling out a weapon, according to Vincent. DeKalb police officers are standing guard at the hospital, she said. He may face additional charges in the case.
The other man has been identified “but is not cooperating,” Vincent said. No charges are pending against him at this time, she said.
Investigators later identified two other victims, a man and woman, injured in the shooting, Vincent said. All of the victims are expected to survive.
