Atlanta police arrested a 15-year-old in a homicide investigation.

Police have charged a 15-year-old with felony murder in connection with a deadly shooting at a Buckhead apartment complex.

The teenage boy, whose name was not released, was arrested Saturday and remains in custody, Atlanta police said in a news release. His murder charge stems from the shooting death of 35-year-old Kevin Humes, who was gunned down outside the Tremont apartments off Habersham Road on May 16, AJC.com previously reported.

Witnesses told officers that two men in a car yelled, “Get him!” just before Humes was shot, police said. Investigators believe Humes was the target of an attempted robbery.

Humes, who was shot in the chest, was found by police about 12:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Days after the shooting, police announced that an anonymous donor chipped in $8,000 to incentive tips to arrest the two suspects responsible for Humes’ slaying. The donation brought the Crime Stoppers reward for the case to $10,000.

Police did not say whether a tip led to the arrest of the 15-year-old suspect. Investigators are still searching for the other man involved.

GoFundMe page was created for Humes and has amassed more than $28,000 in donations as of Tuesday afternoon. The page said he recently relocated to Atlanta after receiving a promotion with UPS, where he worked for 15 years.

“He was never the person to start trouble and was always looking to make friends wherever he went,” the page said. “This senseless and cowardice act occurred in a matter of seconds and yet, it will forever impact the people Kevin left behind and loved dearly.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers. Information can be sent anonymously to the Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.StopCrimeATL.com.
