UPDATE[10:34 p.m.]: Carl Moore, 17, was charged with malice murder in the shooting death of 16-year-old Jewell Jefferson, DeKalb County police said. He was also charged with possession  of a pistol or revolver by a person under the age of 18, according to jail records.

ORIGINAL STORY: DeKalb County police were questioning a 17-year-old boy Tuesday evening in connection with the shooting death of a  16-year-old girl, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The girl, identified as Jewell Jefferson by police, was found shot to death in her bedroom Monday evening on Great Meadows Drive near Lithonia, the station reported.

When asked if the boy and Jefferson were a couple, police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell would not confirm a relationship.
