A 14-year-old student is in custody after being found with a loaded 9mm gun at a metro Atlanta middle school Friday morning, a district spokesman said.

The male student at Lee Middle School in Sharpsburg was quickly isolated by a school police officer, Coweta County schools spokesman Dean Jackson said.

The situation, which happened around 10:30 a.m., was resolved and there was no lockdown, Jackson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Authorities do not know how the student got the gun, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Yarbrough said.

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Parents were notified by a robocall, Jackson said.
