Student assaulted with knife at Atlanta’s Douglass High, official says

A student was assaulted with a knife Friday morning at Douglass High School in northwest Atlanta, a district spokesman said.

"Atlanta Public Schools can confirm that an altercation occurred between two students at Douglass High School this morning and one student was assaulted with a knife,” district spokesman Ian Smith told in a statement.

The student was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

“The victim ... was alert and conscious at the time of transport,” Smith said.

The district stopped short of calling the incident a stabbing.
