Conyers police blocked a road in an industrial area while they investigated a shooting Friday morning, Channel 2 Action News reported.

One person was killed in the shooting in the area of Davis Drive near Parker Road, police told the news station. Several businesses and warehouses occupy the area, as well as the Rockdale Career Academy.

According to Rockdale County Public Schools, there was no impact to operations at the school.

The GBI has been requested to assist with the investigation, but the police department does not consider the incident to be an officer-involved shooting.

Police were initially called to Davis Drive to investigate a situation with an armed man inside a vehicle, Conyers police spokeswoman Officer Kim Lucas told Channel 2. An officer was present when the man fired a single gunshot inside the car, she said.

He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The GBI has been requested to assist, but the police department does not consider the incident to be an officer-involved shooting, Lucas said.
