Walton County officials on Thursday released new photos of the 39-year-old man they are seeking in connection with the death of his wife.

Jerome Ray Mobley is wanted on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and two counts of first-degree cruelty to children.

According to Sheriff Joe Chapman, Mobley’s wife died shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday on Knox Chapel Road east of Social Circle.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Mobley and his wife may have exchanged gunfire.

“We suspect he has been injured,” Chapman said.

Investigators found Mobley’s truck about a mile away abandoned on Knox Chapel Road on the Walton County/Morgan County line, Channel 2 reported. That’s at the tip of Hard Labor Creek State Park

Mobley was described as armed and dangerous. “Do not approach, notify 911,” a post on the sheriff’s Facebook page read.

Documents show that Mobley was ordered in January to stay away from his wife and children as a condition of his bond on cruelty to children and other charges.
