A man was rushed to a hospital Monday morning after a shooting near an apartment complex on Buford Highway at Lenox Road, Atlanta police said.

Officers on scene told Channel 2 Action News that the 28-year-old victim was seen arguing with another person in a nearby wooded area prior to the shooting.

Police said people who are homeless are known to sleep in the area, Channel 2 reported.

The shooting victim was alert when police and medics responded just before 5 a.m.

It is possible the man was shot multiple times, police said. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
