Man shot, killed at busy South Fulton shopping center ID’d

South Fulton police investigate a fatal shooting on Old National Highway Wednesday night.

A man was shot and killed Wednesday night evening in a busy shopping center in South Fulton.

South Fulton officers responded to a shooting about 8:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of Old National Highway, police said in a news release. The victim, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as 24-year-old Jeremiah Wyatt of College Park, died at the scene.

Witnesses at the shopping center told police they saw a shooter in a hooded sweatshirt fire at Wyatt while he was on his cellphone, Channel 2 Action News reported. When the shots rang out, there were several people in the area, which is near China Cafeteria.

Investigators searched the parking lot for evidence Wednesday night, the news station reported. The motive behind the gunfire is not known.

A little more than 12 hours after Wyatt’s shooting, another man was shot and killed in South Fulton. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting at the Westwood Glen Apartment Homes in the 1200 block of Fairburn Road, police spokeswoman Ashley Minter-Osanyinbi told AJC.com.
