Within a two-hour span, police were called to two deadly shootings at different scenes in northwest Atlanta last Thursday night.

The first deadly shooting happened just before 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, Atlanta police said. A deceased man was found on the stairs of an apartment building, and he had a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Officers noticed vehicles in the area also seemed to be damaged by gunfire, and it’s unclear how many rounds were fired during the shooting. No other information was released on this incident.

Just before 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, police said. A man with a gunshot wound in his neck was found in the parking lot, and he died at the scene.

The victim was later identified as 19-year-old Jonathan Anderson, of Atlanta, according to an Atlanta police incident report. Investigators believe an argument led up to the shooting, but the motive remains unclear.

Police have not said that these shootings are connected, and both are being investigated by homicide detectives. The two scenes are about a mile and a half away from each other.
