A woman was arrested after she was accused of shooting and killing another woman Friday morning as she waited for her to-go order outside a Jonesboro Waffle House.

Witnesses told police the suspect, identified as Jasmine Monica Kirk, walked up to the victim’s black SUV in the parking lot of the restaurant, which is located on Tara Boulevard north of Ga. 54. The shooter opened fire, hitting the victim multiple times in the upper torso, according to Jonesboro police.

The woman was dead when officers arrived about 4 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Anthony Lumpkin said. She was found slumped over in the passenger seat.

Her name is not being released until her family is notified.

After the shooting, “witnesses stated that the shooter returned to her vehicle and drove away,” he said.

The parking lot of the Waffle House in the 8700 block of Tara Boulevard was blocked off Friday morning while Jonesboro police investigated a fatal shooting.
