Police are seeking to identify a person of interest in the death of Kelsey Quayle, a model who crashed while on her way to work after she was hit by random gunfire.
Clayton County investigators have released new video of a man seen knocking on the door of a bus. The man, who is wearing a bandanna around his head, appears to have a thin build and long hair, possibly dreadlocks. The video shows him standing at the bus door, but he is not allowed to enter, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury.
“We do know that the male was involved in an altercation outside of his vehicle in the area where Quayle was shot,” Marbury said in a news release. “At this time, he is only being considered a ‘person of interest.’”
Quayle, 28, died two days after the Oct. 8 shooting and head-on crash on Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County. Doctors didn’t realize the woman was shot in the neck until she arrived at Grady Memorial Hospital for surgery following the crash.

Quayle, who moved from California to Atlanta in August to pursue more modeling opportunities, was declared brain dead and was eventually removed from life support, according to her family.

During the investigation, police combed through several surveillance videos taken in the area of the gunfire. An earlier released video showed two vehicles in the parking lot of a nearby QuickTrip in the moments before Quayle was shot and crashed.
Police said the drivers of those vehicles, a white SUV and a gray sedan, may have witnessed the shooting.
"We have obtained multiple surveillance videos from the area where Kelsey Quayle was shot and are attempting to identify a male seen in video obtained from a source,” Marbury said on Thursday. “We have confirmed that the male was the driver of a 2011-2014 Chrysler 200 that is possibly gray in color. “
Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to contact police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Quayle's sister, Kaleigh Martin, to assist with funeral costs. As of Thursday afternoon, it had raised about $19,000.
