Atlanta police are investigating after an apparent shootout left four men with gunshot wounds Tuesday afternoon.

Initially, police thought they were responding to two separate shootings in southwest Atlanta, but investigators quickly connected them, Officer Anthony Grant said. All four men were taken to hospitals, but their conditions were not released.

Just before 5:40 p.m., police found the first two victims in the 3200 block of Dale Lane, Grant said. One man was shot in the face, while the other was shot in the leg.

Soon after, two more shooting victims were found in the 1100 block of Arlington Avenue, Grant said. They had been shot in the jaw and thigh, respectively. The two scenes are about six miles apart, so it’s unclear how the men moved from one location to another.

The two men found along Arlington Road have not told investigators how they were shot, Grant said, but police believe a dispute at the Dale Lane location led to the gunfire.

No other information on the case was provided. The incident remains under investigation.
