A suspect is wanted after running over a Spalding County deputy’s foot with a vehicle and causing a second deputy to injure his face and eye during an ensuing foot chase, authorities said.

Terry Evans Jr. is wanted on aggravated assault against an officer charges in addition to several traffic charges stemming from the incident, Sheriff Darrell Dix said in a Facebook post Friday night.

The incident began with a traffic stop, sheriff’s office spokesman Dwayne Jones told AJC.com. Evans potentially broke the deputy’s foot by running it over, the post said. Evans is accused of running from the scene, with another deputy giving chase.

That deputy’s eye and face was injured by a tree limb during the chase, the post said. Both deputies are at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The location where the chase began was also not provided.

Dix added that Evans was already wanted out of Griffin on outstanding warrants. AJC.com has reached out to Griffin police for more detail on those warrants.

Anyone who comes in contact with Evans is urged to call 911.
