A contractor was shot and killed after reporting to work at a Clayton County apartment complex early Tuesday morning, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Clayton County police responded to the shooting at the Gateway at Hartsfield Apartments just before 3:45 a.m., agency spokesman Officer David Portis said in a statement. The complex is located in the 800 block of Garden Walk Boulevard in the northern part of the county, about two miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
A man coming home saw the body lying on the ground in the parking lot, called 911 and attempted to perform CPR, police said.
The victim died on the scene.
Residents told Channel 2 they heard several gunshots.
Police spent much of the morning collecting evidence at the complex, but it’s unclear whether they have any suspects in the case.
“There is no further information at this time,” Portis said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
