A man died at Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot near a northwest Atlanta apartment complex Wednesday night.

Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to his upper body in the 2900 block of Delmar Lane just after 8:15 p.m., according to Atlanta police. Single-family homes line one side of the street and the Harvest Oak Apartments occupy the other.

The victim was identified Thursday by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as 20-year-old Tamal Daniels. Authorities are still trying to determine where Daniels lived.

Homicide investigators were called to the scene Wednesday night and were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

No other updates were available for release Thursday, police spokesman Investigator James White told AJC.com. The incident remains under investigation, he said.
