Man shot, critically injured in downtown Atlanta

June 20, 2020

A man is in critical condition after being shot in the lower abdomen in downtown Atlanta on Friday night, police said.

Just before 10:15 p.m., officers found the injured man in the 100 block of Luckie Street, Atlanta police said. He was not conscious at the scene, and he was taken to a hospital, where he is fighting for his life.

Investigators said it appears the shooting followed a dispute between the victim and the suspect. Witnesses told police that the suspect was seen running toward Williams Street after the gunfire.

Detectives remain at the scene. No other information was released.

This shooting comes about two hours after a suspect was detained after being accused of shooting at a driver amid protests in Midtown, AJC.com previously reported. No one was injured in that incident.
