Police in Cobb County are trying to find a man who they say punched an 84-year-old woman in her face and stole her purse in the parking lot of a Vinings grocery store.

The incident happened just before 9:30 Tuesday morning outside of the Publix supermarket in the 2400 block of Cumberland Parkway, according to police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Delk.

The woman, Sondra Dillon, told Channel 2 Action News she is still having nightmares after the attack. She told the news station she had just gotten to the store to meet her friend, when the man came “out of the blue.”

“Shot out like a bird flying in and stopped the car,” she said. “Jumped out. It was all in a flash.”

Dillon told police the man hopped back in the car and drove away after punching and robbing her.

Surveillance footage shows the man pulling off in the 2005 Toyota Camry with a dealer drive-out tag, Delk said.

The Camry is distinct with extensive damage to the rear passenger door on the driver’s side, Cobb police said.
