A man was in custody Wednesday after he barricaded himself into a house in Clayton County, Sheriff Victor Hill said.

Johnie Flakes was wanted in connection with the beating of a woman and her child in November at a Steak ’n Shake on Mt. Zion Parkway.

Authorities were attempting to serve Flakes a warrant at the location near Eddie White Academy between Lovejoy and Hampton, Clayton County sheriff’s officials said. The location was near Pine Needle Lane and Pine Needle Road.

During Wednesday’s incident, a woman with Flakes, who was identified as Wendy Canada Carroll, came out and told deputies that Flakes had access to a pistol and a long gun, Hill said.

Authorities sent a robot inside the residence to negotiate with Flakes, who eventually decided to come out, Hill said.

Carroll, who was arrested and charged earlier in the incident, was out on bond and was not supposed to have contact with Flakes, according to Hill.

There was no report of shots fired or injuries.
