One man was killed and another was injured when someone opened fire inside a crowded DeKalb County motel room early Friday morning, police said.

Four men were inside the room at the Motel 6 on Chamblee Tucker Road, but only two were shot, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent. The surviving victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The other later died from his wounds, Vincent said. His name has not been released.

“The investigation is very early,” Vincent told AJC.com from the scene. “However, we have enough evidence to believe that multiple men were inside the room and someone came to the door, and upon opening the door began shooting.”

Investigators have been at the motel since before 4:30 a.m. and are still in the process of conducting interviews. While they have not identified any suspects, Vincent said they are looking for at least one shooter.

“We believe the shooting is the result of some type of dispute,” she said. “Based on what we’ve discovered so far, we believe some type of risky behavior was involved in the shooting.”
