Fight led to deadly Clayton County motel shooting, cops say

Authorities arrested a man in connection with a deadly shopting Friday night outside a motel in Jonesboro, Clayton County police said.

The shooting occurred at the The Woods Motel in the 7800 block of Main Street, Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said in a statement.

Marbury said a fight occurred at the motel before shots were fired.

The victim died at the scene.

The suspect, who was still near the scene, was taken into custody.

Authorities have not released their names.
