A man and a woman were found dead Thursday morning inside a room at a Gwinnett County extended stay motel.

A passerby spotted the bodies lying in the second-floor room at the Norcross Inn on Bay Circle, Gwinnett police told AJC.com. No gunshots were reported, and it is unknown how the victims died or how long the bodies were inside the room.

Their identities have not been released.

“We do not have a motive,” police spokesman Carlton Releford said from the scene Thursday morning. “We do not know how the incident occurred. We don’t have any witnesses.”

Police responded to the motel off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard about 3:45 a.m. Detectives were still gathering evidence and looking for witnesses Thursday morning.

They are investigating the case as a double homicide.

Releford said detectives have not determined if the two victims were guests at the motel or why they were inside the room. He wasn’t aware of any history of crimes or other deadly incidents at the motel.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett police. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000, by contacting Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
