UPDATE: Georgia inmate captured after escaping work detail

Inmate Sean Powell “walked off from his work detail” at Eastview Cemetery in Rome. He was captured Monday evening, the Georgia Department of Corrections said.

Floyd County Correctional Institution inmate Sean Powell was captured without incident in Rome about 9:15 p.m. Monday, the department said in a tweet.

According to online records, Powell was convicted of possession of narcotics and opiates and is not set to be released from prison until June 29, 2019.
