The GBI is investigating after two bodies were discovered overnight in Social Circle.

Social Circle police were called to Thurman Baccus Road after someone found the bodies of a man and a woman in the middle of the road early Friday, the GBI said in a news release. The victims died from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

The GBI identified them as James Robert Evans, 27, and Jaymine Whitlock, 32. Few other details about the incident have been released.

In a post on the city’s Facebook page, officials said it appears it was an isolated incident.

The scene is about 45 miles east of downtown Atlanta.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Social Circle police at 770-464-5906 or the GBI at 1-800-597-8477.
