Gwinnett police ID man fatally shot in his driveway

Police said the victim died at the hospital. They're currently trying to figure out who might know something about the shooting.

Gwinnett County police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed Monday night while sitting in his driveway.

Marcus Gilead, 28, was found shot at least once and sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of a home on Wrenwood Court outside Loganville, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn said in a news release.

Gilead was taken to a hospital and later died. The investigation has been classified as a homicide.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that this victim was sitting in a vehicle in his driveway when he was approached by the suspect,” Flynn said. “At this time, this incident appears robbery related.”

Neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots about 8:15 p.m.

“I heard about four shots,” neighbor Otis Pollard told Channel 2 Action News. “It was pretty loud. At first I thought it was just firecrackers, somebody was just acting silly outside. But then there was a little bit of a ruckus down the street.”

Police have not said if they have identified a suspect in Gilead’s death.
