A man was found shot to death in a wooded part of southwest Atlanta, not far from a running car.
Police also seized a large amount of marijuana from a residence in the 1900 block of Handley Avenue that is part of the investigation, Atlanta police Officer Donald Hannah said.
Officers were called to the scene about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
They found shell casings littering the street and a silver Nissan Maxima still running, police said. No one was inside the car.
Officers “started canvassing the area, looking for any evidence of a person shot,” Capt. Reginald Moorman told Channel 2 Action News.
They spotted the body of the man, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as Sheddrick Harris, 33, of Atlanta.
Police don’t have a description of the shooter, Channel 2 reported.
Neighbors told police they heard yelling before a barrage of gunfire.
“There seems to have been some sort of dispute in the street,” Moorman said.
