The body of a man was found in a ditch near the intersection of Thompson Mill and Rock Springs roads, DeKalb County police said Friday.

About 9:45 a.m., officers and firefighters responded to the scene near Lithonia, police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

The DeKalb medical examiner’s preliminary findings revealed the man was hit by a vehicle, Robertson said. There was little evidence at the scene and no witnesses have come forward, Robertson said.

Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Eldridge Laidler.

The investigation is ongoing.
