A grand jury returned an indictment against a man accused of strangling his girlfriend, officials said.

Michael Russell, 41, of Ringgold, is facing six counts in connection with the death of 32-year-old Christy Waller, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Police said Waller’s children found her body in their Ridgewalk Apartments home in Woodstock.

Russell is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, false imprisonment and two counts of aggravated assault, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.

He is due back in court for an arraignment next month.
