A Marietta man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole after pleading guilty to sodomizing a 12-year-old boy.

Andres Perez Brito, 38, was renting a room in the victim’s Lassiter Road residence at the time of the June 2014 attack, said Kim Isaza, the spokeswoman for Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

According to prosecutors, Brito lured the child into his bedroom, held him down and attacked him. Later, after Brito had gone to work, Brito called and asked to speak to the boy, Isaza said.

The child put Brito on speakerphone. As the boy’s mother listened, Brito told the child he loved him, asked him not to tell his mother about the incident and promised to buy him “whatever he wanted,” Isaza said.

The family then called police.

Brito has been in custody since his arrest in June 2014.

As a jury deliberated his case Thursday, Brito pled guilty to enticing a child for indecent purposes, false imprisonment, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and child molestation, Isaza said.

“It’s a shame that it took this predator so long to accept responsibility for his actions, but the trial provided this victim the opportunity to stand up to his abuser,” said Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring, who helped prosecute the case. “After hearing the emotional testimony of the victim and his family, I’m sure the defendant began to realize he was not going to escape the truth.”
