A 16-year-old boy said he was playing with a gun when he accidentally shot a 15-year-old girl Friday night, Atlanta police said.
The girl, whose name was not released, was shot in the stomach shortly before 8 p.m. in the 700 block of Windsor Street in southwest Atlanta, Officer Kim Jones with Atlanta police said. The girl was conscious and alert while being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she was in stable condition late Friday, Jones said.
The alleged shooter was arrested at the scene, Jones said. Neither his name nor his charges were released because he is a juvenile.
Investigators recovered the gun, which had been reported stolen out of Fayette County, Jones said.
