A Covington woman who allegedly shot a man in a “parking lot rage” incident outside a Target store in DeKalb County has bonded out of jail, records show.

Bond was set at $50,000 for Tara L. Moody, 40, according to jail records. Charged with aggravated assault, she was released early Friday.

Moody was arrested after Tuesday’s shooting outside the Target on Lavista Road near I-285, police said.

She told a judge via a video hookup at the DeKalb jail that she is the “sole provider” for her husband and 14-year-old daughter, Channel 2 Action News reported.

In setting the bond, the judge said she didn’t think Moody would offend again, the news station reported.

She shot the victim, 47-year-old Robert Herwing of Decatur, after he apparently poured bottled water on her and her car, according to the station.

Herwing left his SUV after he and Moody tried to drive around a truck at the same time in the parking lot, police said. Neither driver gave way, according to surveillance video, and Herwing then approached Moody, according to Channel 2.

After the shooting, the woman drove away from the scene, and Herwing, holding his chest, stumbled into the store, police said.

Herwing was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said at the time. No further information was available on his condition.

DeKalb police said there were two people in the car when it crashed, but they did not find the second victim until a week later.
