For Akella Clore, the arrests of five people following a drug bust just a few houses down from her Marietta residence is a relief.
“It’s phenomenal that (police) finally got them,” she told Channel 2 Action News.
Clore and other neighbors had long noticed the unusual traffic at odd hours. They took those suspicions to police, hoping their complaints would not fall on deaf ears.
After building a case, Marietta police executed a search warrant Tuesday night at a home in the 1300 block of Arden Drive. Authorities found heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana inside the home. And they arrested five people, including a mother and son.
James Jackson and his mother Maryella Jackson face drug possession charges, Officer Chuck McPhilamy said. James Jackson also faces an obstruction charge. Three others — Marie Rizzo, James Hartzog, Stephen Wilkie — also face multiple drug charges.
One person, Kimberly Goodsell, is wanted on an outstanding warrant.

“We want to thank the residents of Marietta who called us to complain about the suspicious behavior they observed,” police said in a Facebook post announcing the arrests.
McPhilamy told Channel 2 there were at least four complaints made to the department “saying things just don’t feel right.”
