3 arrested after $200K worth of marijuana seized during Gwinnett traffic stop

A traffic stop in Gwinnett County led to three arrests and about 70 pounds of marijuana being seized, the GBI said.

The three people, all from Charlotte, face trafficking marijuana charges after the traffic stop Tuesday along I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road, the GBI said in a news release. The estimated street value of the pot seized is more than $200,000.

The suspects are 34-year-old Phetprasong Souriyo, 28-year-old Brandy Souriyo and 30-year-old Somphone Thongkhamdy. All three remain in the Gwinnett County jail without bond, records show.

The traffic stop was conducted by the Georgia State Patrol, and agents with the GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office assisted in the investigation. The arrests are part of an ongoing marijuana trafficking investigation in metro Atlanta along I-85.
