Following a stakeout in Dunwoody, a 39-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Alpharetta.

Manbir Singh Minhas faces two felonies after being tied to the attempted armed robbery at the Bank of America at 6225 Windward Parkway on Friday, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post.

About 12:25 p.m., Minhas entered the bank and asked to speak to a customer service associate, Alpharetta police previously said. About 30 minutes later, he allegedly indicated that he possessed an explosive device and demanded money.

The suspect eventually became frustrated and ran away from the bank without injuring anyone or taking any money, police said.

On Tuesday, FBI agents and Dunwoody police officers took Minhas into custody during a traffic stop near his home following a stakeout, the post said. He faces a count of armed robbery and aggravated assault. Despite the FBI’s involvement, no federal charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing.

He was booked into the Fulton County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
