A man who was behind bars after being accused of shooting a shoe seller he met online and robbing a woman at a Walmart in Cherokee County has been tied to a third armed robbery in another county.
Eric Jordan Elam, 26, of Acworth, was charged in a Feb. 7 assault and robbery that took place in unincorporated Decatur, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday. His motivation for the violent incident was to obtain “social media contacts to make connections in the music industry,” according to warrants.
Elam, along with 19-year-old Troy William Fiddes of Covington, are accused of picking up the victim in a vehicle and driving him to Memorial Drive, where they robbed him at gunpoint and pistol-whipped him, the release said. The victim sustained injuries that required treatment at a hospital.

Elam was arrested Tuesday, while Fiddes was taken into custody Wednesday. Both were charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault and remain in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
Within the past week, Elam was arrested by U.S. marshals in connection with two other armed robberies, AJC.com previously reported.

On Feb. 3, he robbed a woman at gunpoint and demanded her phone and cash at a Walmart off Bells Ferry Road, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the Feb. 7 armed robbery in DeKalb, he’s accused of a similar crime two days later.
Diamond Fane, 24, of Kennesaw, went to the Waldan Pond apartment complex off Bells Ferry Road to meet Elam, who he had met through an online app, the sheriff’s office said. Elam had agreed to buy a pair of shoes from Fane, but he’s accused of shooting and robbing him instead.
Fane was shot in the chest and arm before driving himself to his girlfriend’s residence at the Hidden Falls Mobile Home Park in Acworth. Investigators found him lying in the doorway of one of the units before taking him to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

U.S. marshals took Elam to the DeKalb jail due to other outstanding charges he faces, but he was granted bond at some point before Tuesday. The circumstances surrounding that bond amount are unclear.
