Authorities are now offering a $10,000 reward to help solve the death of a man who was shot days before his body was discovered.
Demetris Dondrell Malone could have been lying in a back bedroom of a southwest Atlanta home for as many as three days before he was found July 13, according to Atlanta police. Malone, 37, had been shot multiple times.
Detectives said Monday they have no leads in Malone’s killing. They are hoping an increased reward, offered by friends and family through Crime Stoppers, will help catch “a violent criminal.”
Malone’s body was found in the afternoon. The owner of the Alder Lane home became concerned and asked a friend to check on the house, detectives at the scene told Channel 2 Action News. That person discovered the body and called 911.
Investigators have not said what prompted the owner’s concern.

Friends of the victim told Channel 2 that he was a father of two young children. Jasmine Davis, Malone’s ex-girlfriend, said news of his death spread quickly among their friends.
"He was a nice guy. He was a good parent to his kids," Davis said. "It's shocking. It's crazy."
Others described Malone as a great guy who went out of his way to look after those he cared about.
"He was a really good person,” his friend Shea Miller told the news station. “It's going to hurt a lot of people."
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling 404-577-8477, texting information to 274637 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.
