A traffic stop Tuesday on I-75 South resulted in an unexpected find: 101 pounds of suspected marijuana.

According to Butts County Sheriff Gary Long, one of his deputies stopped a Subaru Forester near Exit 202 for multiple traffic violations.

“Upon making contact with the driver,” Long said Friday, “the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

A probable cause search uncovered dozens of large bags of the suspected drugs.

The driver, 22-year-old Josharon Kubli, was arrested on a charge of drug trafficking, Long said.

Kubli told the deputy he was passing through Georgia on his way to his home in Florida.

He’d just come from Colorado.
