A good deed did not go unpunished for a Colorado couple that was run down by an enraged mother after they called police to report her child left in a a hot car.

Shannon Dominguez, 43, and her boyfriend, Alan Mason, called 911 after they saw the young boy in a car they described as being in direct sunlight with the windows up, Fox affiliate KDVR-TV reported.

The boy’s mother, 27-year-old Kristina Riddell, returned to the car outside a Longmont, Colo. Dollar Tree. Hearing Dominguez on the phone with police, Riddell became violent, the station reported. She punched Mason in the face, then proceeded to hit the couple with her car, according to Fox 31.

Mason went over the hood and suffered internal and external bruising. Dominguez who was dragged about 20 feet now has a crushed leg. Doctors say she may never walk normally again.

Riddell was later arrested at her home and is facing charges of hit-and-run, assault and child abuse.
