Cherokee County authorities are searching for two men who attempted to abduct a young girl Sunday night.

Lt. Jay Baker of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said a 9-year-old girl was riding her bike on Stover Drive around 7 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle pulled up alongside her. The driver of that vehicle reportedly asked the girl if she wanted to “get in the car and go to a place.”

The girl said no and the car, which had two males inside, drove away, Baker said.

The suspects are described as muscular with black hair and black shirts, and the driver reportedly had a Mohawk. Their vehicle was described by the girl and other witnesses as a dark-colored, mid-80s Toyota Camry “with rust and blemishes.”

Authorities released a sketch of one of the suspects Monday afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cherokee County investigators at 770-928-0239.
